EWI Rasps

EWI rasps are specialist hand tools used to level and prepare insulation boards during the installation of external wall insulation systems. They help remove raised edges, smooth uneven board joints and create a consistent surface before the reinforcing base coat and mesh are applied.

Rasping the insulation boards can improve the overall flatness of the system, helping the subsequent render coats achieve a more uniform finish.

Choosing an EWI Rasp

Rendit supplies Refina EWI rasps with different working faces and levels of abrasion.

Plastic rasps feature a grater-style face and provide a lightweight, economical option for sanding insulation boards. The face can be brushed clean between uses to help maintain its performance.

Metal rasp floats have perforated faces that allow removed material to pass through the tool. Larger perforations can reduce clogging and enable the installer to cover wider areas efficiently.

Tungsten rasps provide a more aggressive cutting action for demanding preparation work. The Refina Tungsten Tiger Claw also includes a saw edge and is designed for rubbing down insulation boards.
